Winchester Cathedral
The second week of our 2007 Free For All tour took us to Winchester Cathedral. With one of the longest naves in the country it was really a great backdrop to perform in. Each day we worked with 70 to 100 children and they all performed really well. In the main we lacked having an audience to perform to, but it is funny how dressing up in costume and performing amongst ourselves took on a kind of ritualistic feel, celebrating the gift of drama and play if you like. It was also our hope that we could help young people to understand the story of the transatlantic slave trade and apply some of the
lesson learnt to today and modern forms of slavery. One day I posed the question to the children "What is Freedom" and it was interesting to hear some of the answers. "Freedom is being able to do what you like!" "Freedom is where everyone is equal". "Freedom is free!"
Next week we are in Westminster Abbey, with a final performance on Wednesday evening at 6pm. This will be our first full performance so we are all really excited. To view photo's from our Winchester week click on this link
