Free For All in Guildford

Guildford_cathedral_2 The cathedral in Guildford is set on a hill, overlooking the city and much more besides.  Inside the building, we met over 250 young people from schools nearby across 3 days.  What was the big attraction?  FREE FOR ALL has restarted after the summer break!

As we travel around the UK doing these drama workshops and performances, we always find something new.  In Guildford, we were treated to some great performances by the children who played Mbe the greedy tortoise, the plate of food, and of course the wise doctor.  TheFri_cast_hands_up singing of "Swing low, sweet chariot" in the second half of the play and at the finale has struck a new level of power too.  As the cast's arms reach up for strength and freedom, we see in their eyes, not children, but men, women and children stripped of their identities, showing an inner strength that we all have, but don't often have to draw on.

Many thanks go to those at the cathedral who helped make this a special week, and to the teachers who got involved with the day.  Picture of the week can be found here.  If you were involved in the week - let us know what you thought by leaving a comment.
