Free For All at Bristol Cathedral
Free For All arrived at Bristol Cathedral on Thursday to work with two local schools who came full of energy and exuberance. We explained that the African's forced into slavery didn't just go along with things, but rose up to fight their captors. On Jamaica a famous Baptist preacher Sam Sharpe preached the gospel of freedom and by night time plantations all over the island had been set ablaze. Not his intent of course! One such rebel Toussaint L'Ouverture led a small band of 2000 fighting Africans against the might of the British and French and defeated them both. As a result St Dominique (Haiti) won it's independence. In this picture Toussaint L'Ouverture leads the battle cry: "I am Toussant L'Ouverture, join me and fight for freedom."
